GSR TECHNOLOGY ITALY, NEW OPPORTUNITIES WITH THE H-INK TECHNOLOGY: THE ELECTRONIC INK WHICH USES SUNLIGHT
Our 42” is a display with a reflective and electrophoretic technology based on an active matrix TFT substrate. Its resolution is 2160 x 2880 pixel, 3:4 proportions, it can be used both in portrait and landscape mode with a wide viewing angle from each angle. Working temperature is between 0-50°. Backlight is not required, but it is possible to add a frontal light for a night vision, its uniqueness is a low (almost zero) power consumption!
What is the E-Ink technology and how does it work?
E-ink is a technology used on all E-books displays: it imitates how ink appears on paper taking advantage of sunlight.
Compared to other conventional backlighted LCD displays, E-ink technology reflects sunlight, as if it were a normal paper sheet. Not only does this characteristic save energy, but it also does not strain the eyes. Indeed, displays with electronic ink produce a minimal amount of blue light, which usually is harmful to the eye.
How does E-Ink technology work?
E-Ink technology displays are different from TFT LCD which usually have a back light to illuminate pixels and show images to human eye. E-ink technology exploits a physical process called electrophoresis. Basically the electronic module consists of two thin transparent layers, divided only by several spheres measuring 0.3mm. These spheres are electrically charged: one half is positive and black, while the other half is negative and white. Depending on the electric impulse that reaches the screen, the black half or the white one will appear. By positioning in the right place all the spheres, you will read words and see images.
Energy-saving
Thanks to the special characteristics of the E-Ink, it is not necessary to supply power to the screen continuously: you may do that only when necessary and change the electric charge of the spheres. By doing so you will save energy and battery may last even more than one month.
Application fields are so many, for example digital signage, bust stop signs, charging points, info points, ads…
